In addition to blogging about the arts in Buenos Aires, hosting parties and events catering to both expats and Argentines, as well as conducting art tours, we also open up one of our upstairs studios for free to an emerging artist.
The residency lasts 3 months and will conclude with a Juanele-sponsored event, opening, party or reception.
The studio is located upstairs in Juanele HQ. The space is quiet, measures 2.5 m x 3.5 m, is well-lit and unfurnished.
We live and work in a large, spacious, high-ceilinged flat in Recoleta painted by local street artists and others. You may have seen photos of it, or maybe you’ve been here for one of our many events.

Wuba and Zizek Records also share our space as does Swedish shoemaker, Katrine.
Requirements
The artist-in-residence must live in Buenos Aires long-term and can be either an expat or an Argentine.
The applicant must submit a CV in either English or Spanish, a well-annotated portfolio and a proposal in English or Spanish. (Use the form below). The staff of Juanele will choose the artist-in-residence in consultation with local artists and gallerists. We are open to any kind of proposal from any artistic discipline, whether it’s visual art, performance art, sculpture, sound & video or new media. However, the work must be completed within 3 months.
The applicant agrees to share the work as it progresses on Juanele’s blog and consents to having his/her work documented via photos and video. These media may be used in promotional materials for Juanele AR. The artist-in-residence has the option of blogging in either Spanish or English or both about her experiences working with Juanele AR.
In other words, what you do is not secret.
The applicant agrees to make every effort to complete the project within 3 months. An extension of residency is possible, however, and negotiable. However, the goal is a project that can be finished and presented at the end of the residency.
In addition, Juanele will be charging a nominal AR $200 fee for electricity and other building expenses. This fee covers the entire 3 months of residency. It also assures us that you’re serious.
To apply, use the form below to send us your CV, a portfolio with photos and descriptions of your previous work and a proposal explaining your plans for the project and your reasons for applying. In order to upload, please zip or rar everything into one large file, no bigger than 8 MB.
If you have trouble uploading via this form, use this one. The password is gumy.
Thanks and good luck!
