The work of Lena Szankay concentrates on the intermediate times, the reflective gaps when things have already happened yet they haven’t advanced. They aren’t action-pictures. The images are subjective visions, mostly depicting states that seem to extend to the present while evoking the past. A feeling of nostalgia, ambiguous and subtle, imposes onto these photos the strength of the fleeting instant.
